Background: Although rare in most developed countries, tuberculous and brucellar spondylodiscitis are still frequent the mediterranean countries. Management of may require a surgical intervention cases spinal cord or root compression, bone destructions deformities, unsuccessfull medical treatment large abcesses. Objectives: To study characteristics outcome surgically treated spondylodiscitis. Methods: Medical records patients who were admitted into physical therapy rehabilitation ward immediately post surgery spine retrospectively studied. The included from January 2010 to December 2020. Results: Twenty diagnosed with for which they underwent surgery. mean age diagnosis was 49.7± 11.9 years. sex ratio 1:1. delayed 60% due atypical presentations. Fatigue reported 45% patients, back pain cases, radicular 15% fever 20% abnormal gait cases. Tuberculosis identified 75% infection 25% On biology, elevated inflammatory markers noted Intradermal reaction tuberculosis positive 9 while cultures allowed 1 patient. Wright serology test confirmed all 5 In remaing ones, vertebral biopsy intraoperative samples Cervical involvement 5% lumbar dorsal 30% All recieved antibiotics immobilization. Surgery indicated 78.6% decompression 21.4% voluminous Anterior approach used 7.1% posterior 92.9% 23.1% benifited concomitantly fusion Post operative success by recovery normal 15.4% patients. متن کاملMRI characteristics of brucellar spondylodiscitis in cervical or thoracic segments
Purpose/Aim: The purpose was to determine the distinguishing of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for brucellar spondylodiscitis in cervical or thoracic segments. Materials and methods: 20 among 260 brucellosis patients, aged 32-63 y old (average, 50.3 y), were chosen. We diagnosed according to epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, Brucellar standard agglutination testing, and MRI findings...

BACKGROUND Most patients affected by spinal tuberculosis can be successfully treated conservatively with chemotherapy, external bracing and prolonged rest. Nevertheless, kyphotic deformity, spinal instability and neurological deficit remain a common complication associated with conservative approach. AIM To illustrate different indications and treatment modalities for tuberculous spondylodisc...

متن کاملMicrobiological and immunological diagnosis of tuberculous spondylodiscitis.
BACKGROUND Tuberculous spondylodiscitis is one the many manifestations of active tuberculosis (TB) and can result following primary infection or, more frequently, from reactivation of active TB in subjects with latent TB. Definitive diagnosis of tuberculous spondylodiscitis requires the identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the biological sample following microbiological analysis. A...
